Indonesia and United states have cooperation in reveal deep sea zone at Sangihe-Talaud Indonesia. Cooperation in sea expedition with theme INDEX SATAL 2010 (Indonesia-US Expedition Sangihe Talaud 2010), this effort means to help in advancing knowledge about sea nad its resources, and exploration and conservation.
INDEX SATAL 2010 is a first expedition from chain of expedition that has planned. The expedition occurred since Juni 24th till Agust 10th 2010 by research vessel Okeanos Explorer (NOAA-USA) and research vessel Baruna Jaya 4 (BPPT-Indonesia). Researcher team from Indonesia chaired by Dr. Sugiarta Wirasantosa from The Agency for Marine and Fisheries Research and from USA chaired by Stephen R. Hammond. Due to the agreement Okeanos Explorer not allowed bring exploration product out of Indonesia territory. Sample collecting will do in Baruna Jaya 4.
Marine and fisheries research agency has significant role in the expedition, as the hostess who should be prepared all of tele-presence technology. Marine technology research center is a work unit that appointed to prepare from information technology side.
Collectively research activity between domestic researcher and foreign researcher, implemented via live is first time in Indonesia. So that, this moment have to use as better as possible by Indonesian public, in particular for the researcher who involved directly to give advancing in knowledge for the nation and state. The scientist from domestic or foreign country who involved in the research are The agency for Marine and Fisheries research (BRKP), The Agency for The Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Indonesian Sugar Research Institute (P3GI), PSG, UNSTRAT, and NOAA. This activity support by Directorate General of Defense Strategy of Ministry of Defense, Indonesian Hydrographic Office, SeaWorld and TEIN3.
In sea exploration, researcher use internet Website to represent tele-presence at each location of exploration command center at BRKP at Jl. Pasir Putih I, Ancol and Seattle, Washington via video with quality high definition (HD). The rscientist can watch and communicate with vessel crew or exploration command center in different area.
